Happy Mother’s Day! From Little Dickens Farm

We had a great Mother’s Day weekend here at Little Dickens Farm. Little JuJu’s mama, Bella, is slimming up beautifully and getting a lot more exercise now that she’s not in foal. With most of her winter coat gone, we can now see what a truly gorgeous leopard appaloosa she is, with a combination of copper, dark brown and black spotting through her white. JuJu actually spends much of her time by LuLu’s side…maybe she knows there’s a little playmate in her belly ready to come out anytime??

We are still waiting on LuLu’s foal, but it’s kind of nice to have the births spread out a little to give us longer bonding time with just JuJu. Having these horse mamas on the farm is such a cool experience. We feel fortunate to have them accept and enjoy their new home, and to seek us out and welcome our hugs and kisses. The role of mothers in the world, both human and animal, is a fascinating and beautiful gift to be able to watch and be a part of. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you out there who nurture, raise up and love the young ones in the world, your job is important!
